Dear iGEM 2009 Team Member,


GENEART welcomes you to our gene synthesis service sponsorship for the 2009 iGEM competition. We would like to help make your iGEM 2009 project a success.

GENEART is sponsoring the iGEM 2009 competition with a very special gene synthesis rate of only USD 0.20 (EUR 0.15) / bp*. Together, the 112 iGEM 2009 teams can order up to 280 kb of synthetic DNA at that rate. Synthetic DNA beyond that will be priced at the competitive rate of USD 0.49 (EUR 0.39) / bp*. Shipping worldwide is USD 35.00 (EUR 25.00) per shipment.

To serve all teams equally, GENEART, along with the iGEM committee, have set the following regulations per order:

  • All iGEM orders must be placed via GENEART’s fully automated online affiliate, Mr. GENE (www.mrgene.com)

                                                

  • All iGEM2009 teams must register an authorized team account with Mr. Gene prior to placement of the first order to identify themselves as iGEM2009 participants. Instructors will be contacted by Mr. Gene to accomplish this

  • At Mr. Gene, quotes are generated automatically and in real-time. The quotes as created may not reflect the iGEM rates as described above. If the case, please email the pdf of the quote back to Mr. Gene with ‘iGEM2009’ as the subject line to receive an updated version of the quote reflecting iGEM rates.

  • The 280kb synthesis budget is equally divided between the teams from now until August 15th. After August 15th, any remaining synthesis budget may be reallocated by GENEART and iGEM until September 30th.

  • Sponsorship period ends Sept 30th, 2009.

  • Each team is allocated 2,500 bp of DNA synthesis during the iGEM2009 competition

  • Maximum length 1 kb per construct

  • Minimum volume per construct is USD 100.00 (EUR 75.00)

  • Turnaround  time average is 15 business days

  • Maximum total order volume is 100 kb per month on a first come, first served basis

  • Constructs will be subcloned into a GENEART standard vector
